During my lifetime I have always ignored any type of professional physical training.
Going for a walk around my neighborhood was the extent of my physical activity. I did try many types of diets. What would happen is that I would lose weight and then put it all back on. Next year I will be60 years old. I thought it is about time I shaped up. Last August 25th I joined Average Joe’s 24 Hour Fitness. It has turned out to be a good investment on my health and wellness. I am now progressing into my fourth month at the gym. So far with the help of Joe Forsyth’s diet I have lost a total of 34 pounds. I need to lose another 10 before I reach my goal. Also I benefited from his services as a physical trainer. I have improved muscle mass and stamina when exercising. I am at the gym everyday, either working on cardio or weight training. This experience has given me a very positive outlook. I cannot wait for my physical examination in February. I know my cholesterol and blood pressure will have diminished greatly. Thank you, Joe, for all of your help. I am very proud of myself. “Keep up the great work, John.”

My entire life I have been an active person. I was involved in many activities when I was younger including

dance, field hockey and cheerleading. In college I logged miles and miles walking to and from class, and my job as a nanny for 3 families always kept me moving. I never paid much attention to my eating habits, and my active lifestyle always seemed to make up for the cases of macaroni and cheese and bags of McDonalds I put away on my meager student budget. But after graduation I got a 50+ hour a week desk job and before I knew it, I had gained 70 pounds in what seemed like days. I think everyone knows the feeling of waking up one day and not being able to button your jeans, and it’s awful. You wonder who the person in the mirror is, and you know you need to make a change.

I started working with Joe a few times a week and began losing. But as it tends to do, life got in the way and I stopped going. Then one day at work about a year later, Joe walked into my showroom (or should I say jogged) and invited me to come back and try the newly opened Average Joe’s. I picked back up on my training schedule and dropped about 5 pounds in 6 weeks….not bad but nothing to write home about. Finding the internal motivation to go to the gym each day was a struggle for me and really hindered my progress.

Then Joe asked me to participate in a new Bootcamp program he was developing. The team dynamic of the program was what really drew me in. I am (a little too) competitive and the idea of weekly weigh-ins, competitions, and the almighty grand prize had me sold. I joined and never looked back. I thrived in the group training sessions, and really enjoyed being pushed by my team and hopefully was doing the same for them. The feeling of camaraderie was (and is) truly present at all our sessions. We win together and we lose together. We celebrate each other’s successes and console each other when we slip. We are all struggling with the same issues- trying to fit healthy habits into an already busy life. I’m proud to say I am down almost 20 pounds in the first 7 weeks of the program, and hope to lose another 10 more by the end. I am physically stronger and visibly leaner. I pay attention to what goes into my body and can see the positive effect a healthy diet has made on my body.

I am most definitely going to participate in Joe’s Bootcamp Revenge and look forward to another 8 weeks of working with people I can truly now call my friends. I am so proud of everyone in the program. We have all come so far from that first night we all huffed and puffed in the back parking lot of Average Joes, sweating and groaning from a little physical exercise. Now we could all do that exercise with our eyes closed. To think that just last week we all completed a two mile road race is truly incredible and makes me so proud of how far we have all come.

I would encourage anyone to join the Bootcamp and see first hand how it can change your life. It’s never too late to make the change and we are all proof of that. I look forward to a brighter, healthier and stronger future thanks to Average Joes, the Bootcamp, all my teammates and especially Joe.

I have been playing professional golf for seven years and throughout that time my body has encountered many injuries
and setbacks. I have been under the knife twice with operations to both of my knees and have experienced nerve damage to my left shoulder. But neither one of these injuries could compare to what happened two years ago when I was diagnosed with a herniated disk in my lower back. Days went by when just getting out of bed was troublesome and normal everyday functions seemed next to impossible to perform. I needed help! What I knew was a physical therapist would not give me the hands on attention that my back required. So I searched elsewhere and found Joe. Joe introduced me to a method called trigger point therapy which is exactly what I was looking for. He was hands on and aggressive with my injury and got me back to playing tournament golf in four weeks. To this day I still see Joe for regular tune ups on my back. I would recommend that anyone with back pain give Joe a try. His therapeutic approach have helped me return to my normal life and I am sure he could do the same for you.
